Speech Title:  Discovering the Meaning of Your Life
Target Audience:  Age 70 and above
Time Length:  30 minutes to 1 hour.  Audience participation encouraged

Have you noticed how seniors often seem to get lost in the past.  Out of nowhere, they will start talking about a long forgotten incident, vividly recalling every detail.  It’s no accident that this is happening.  After seniors reach a certain age, some psychologists believe that seniors must review every event in their past and view it in a new perspective.  Through this life review, seniors discover the real meaning of their lives and what legacy they hope to leave.

Since throughout our lifetime, we are focused on moving forward and not backward, few are prepared to accomplish this important task.  In DISCOVERING THE MEANING OF YOUR LIFE, we discuss the life review process, what obstacles hold us back, and how to move forward to successfully discover our legacy.

Speech Title:  Successfully Communicating with Seniors
Target Audience:  Caregivers and others who work with Seniors
Time Length:  30 minutes to 1 hour.  Audience participation encouraged

The way in which we say things to seniors greatly affects how they will respond.  As we age, we are faced with constant losses.  Family and friends pass, no one asks for our opinions or ideas anymore, we even begin to lose our ability to do our normal daily activities.  WE ARE LOSING CONTROL!!!!  It’s no wonder that seniors can appear to be very stubborn when they are directed to do something.  Unknowingly, we are taking away some of the little control they have left in their lives, the control over making their own decisions.

Seniors have a much more important task at hand, the task of discovering their legacy.  Unfortunately many are so busy fighting over issues of control that they are not able to perform their required life review and discover their legacy.

In SUCCESSFULLY COMMUNICATING WITH SENIORS, we explore the conflict between Control and Performing a Life Review.  We explore communication techniques that allow seniors to maintain control.  We also learn techniques that we can use to aid seniors in their important life review task.

Speech Title:  Senior Fraud
Target Audience:  All
Time Length:  30 to 45 minutes.

It’s no surprise that seniors are prime targets for scam artists.  Seniors, many having lived through the Great Depression, have been  more frugal during their lives and are more likely to have money, property and credit.

They are not the only ones though.  We are all targets for fraud as many who lost billions through various scams can attest to.  We all need to be “on guard.”

In SENIOR FRAUD, we discuss why seniors are targeted, what type of scams are currently being used and how we can reduce the possibility of being defrauded.  We also review the resources that are available once fraud has been detected.
